In first full season on ATP World Tour, former collegiate standout broke into Top 100 and played in all four Grand Slam tournaments for first time…Broke into Top 100 on June 17 at No. 100 (from No. 120) after winning Nottingham-2 Challenger (d. Bemelmans). Also earned a wild card into Wimbledon and lost to countryman Bobby Reynolds in five sets in 1R.. Has spent five weeks in Top 100, reaching career-high No. 97 on July 8. Comes into US Open No. 116…Qualified into Australian Open (l. to Almagro) and Roland Garros (l. to Montanes). Has lost first three Grand Slams in five sets… Prior to US Open, qualified in Winston-Salem and reached 3R with wins over Reynolds and No. 23 Seppi, l. to Lu). Win over Seppi was first career Top 25 win…In February, reached first ATP World Tour QF in San Jose (d. Karlovic-saved 1 MP, Smyczek, l. to Haas)

The Californian was one of the most improved players on ATP World Tour, jumping 120 ranking spots from previous season to finish in Top 50 at a year-end high No. 37...Finished as No. 3 American (behind No. 19 Isner, No. 35 Querrey) and posted 4 Top 20 wins during season, defeating No. 20 Anderson (Auckland), No. 12 Haas (Delray Beach), No. 12 Isner (Washington) and No. 13 Gulbis (Cincinnati)...In February, advanced to 1st ATP World Tour SF in Delray Beach, becoming 8th qualifier in tournament history (since ‘93) to do so (l. to Anderson). Also reached 5 other QFs - Auckland, Halle, Newport, Washington and Tokyo...In Grand Slam play, lone win came over Laurent Lokoli at Roland Garros (l. to Sock in 2R).
