主要利用分子束外延和扫描隧道显微镜等手段研究1）金属/半导体界面低维体系的生长机理及其不稳定性；2）复杂过渡金属氧化物薄膜的生长及其在原子尺度上的强关联性质。

1. 系统研究了In/Si（111）界面在低温下的4x1—8x2相变，尤其是在相变点附近的动力学行为，发现了微观尺度上结构相变和电子学相变的分离以及新纳米相的存在。

2. 发现了Pb/Ge（111）界面在低温下的无序相变，指出了金属/半导体界面性质与强关联电子体系理论的联系。

3. 在Cu（111）邻近表面上生长出单原子的Fe量子线，指出了利用台阶阵列作为模版获得均匀全同量子线的可行性。已发表论文十余篇（包括4篇PRL，4篇APL等）。

利用分子束外延方法生长复杂过渡金属氧化物薄膜，并通过低温STM进行原位观测，研究原子尺度上的强关联现象。
